Together we are growing in God's love

“Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.” – Shakuntala Devi

At St Patrick's, our aim is to set a strong mathematical foundation for the children in Early Years and encourage mathematical thinking. Our highly skilled practitioners allow opportunities for the children to learn mathematics through both child-initiated play and direct adult teaching. We support our children to be creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers. We support the learning of mathematics in the Early Years by ensuring our provision and practice is informed by the reflections on how our children learn.

In St Patrick's, we follow 'Power Maths (Active Learn).  Power Maths is a whole-class, textbook-based mastery resource that empowers every child to understand and succeed. Power Maths rejects the notion that some people simply ‘can’t’ do maths. Instead, it develops growth mindsets and encourages hard work, practice and a
willingness to see mistakes as learning tools.

Below, you will find the Power Maths (White Rose Edition) of the Reception Yearly Overview.
