We have started with instructions, which will be inspired by Roald Dahl and lead us to create our own cooking recipe. Then, we will move onto setting descriptions based from the short film, Alma, which we will also use to help us write a detailed character description.
This term we will read 'War Horse'. This will get them ready to experience the brilliant war topics this time next year in Year 6.
In maths, we will have a busy term covering the basis of four topic areas: place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and fractions.
Our focus during this term will be the 'circulatory system'.
This year we have used a new curriculum to deepen our children's knowledge of the Catholic faith and the stories which have travelled through history. Which will mainly focus on the stories of Abraham.
Over this term we will cover the history of the Titanic, which the children are ecstatic about!
During this half term, Year 5 will be: researching bridges, attempting different designs and materials, evaluating and building a final construction.
After the October half term, we will be creating digital forms of art!
We will be doing two hours of PE a week, which will be divided between Monday and Fridays PE sessions. Our half term focus is rounders.
Our new music focus at the beginning of each year is to learning a new instrument. Over the term, the children we learn how to read notation and sheet music to finally play a small song independently on the keyboard.
