St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School

Making learning irresistible

Week Beginning 13th July

PLEASE return any reading books that were sent home with your child back to school.

There is a red box by the school office window. Thank you.

Friday 17th July

I can't believe it...your last day in Year 1!

I have loved teaching you all this year and I'm disappointed that we didn't get to finish the year properly or spend the last day in school together.

I know you will all be fantastic in Year 2 and I look forward to seeing you all in September. (I bet you have all grown!)

Well done for all your hard work and resilience over the last 4 months- I know it has been strange and difficult.

Thank you to all the parents/ adults at home, who have supported and been the 'teacher' whilst school has been closed- I couldn't have done it without you.

I hope you all have a lovely summer. Look after yourselves.

See you in September.

Good morning.

I hope everyone is well.

Yesterday in school we got our Maths and English work done in the morning and then in the afternoon we had a game of rounders followed by some party food.

We all enjoyed the game of rounders and we only lost one ball over the fence!

Have a good day.

Time to the hour

Here is today's video: https://vimeo.com/436533759

Discuss:

1 minute is 60 seconds - What can you do in 1 minute. Time yourself doing star jumps or writing today's date in your book!

1 hour is 60 minutes- What can you do in 1 hour?

Which is longer 1 hour or 1 minute?

Activity:

Please draw a clock correctly and add the hour and minute hand for the times below:

1 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock, 9 o'clock, 10 o'clock, 11 o'clock, 12 o'clock

(In school we often start by drawing the 'hour hand' in red and the 'minute hand' in blue to help us see the difference between the two. Remember the hour hand is shorter than the minute hand).

During the day, I would like you to read the time at every o'clock.

I have attached today's sheet for you to look at answer the questions verbally.
