Making learning irresistible

Homework and Routines

In Year 4, we  focus on ensuring that our children become more independent individuals.

Therefore, the onus is very much upon them to make sure that they are appropriately equipped for school and have completed any

reading/homework tasks set.

Homework: All children will be given homework to complete on a Friday and this must be returned the following Wednesday.

Children will be made fully aware of the implications of not completing or returning their homework.

This is to encourage them to be more responsible for their own learning outside of school.

Children who do not return completed homework will be required to attend Homework Club at playtime in order to do this.

Reading: As we follow a whole class guided reading approach, sometimes our children will be asked to read certain pages or chapters of

the class guided reading book at home. They will then complete work on this in the following lesson so it is important that they complete

this reading within the given time frame. In addition to this, they also choose their own home reading book from the library/class

bookshelf. These books should be brought into school daily and the children can change these as often as is required. We know that

reading at home has a huge impact so please continue to do this and sign your child's  reading records as often as possible.

PE: This term PE will take place on Tuesdays. Please ensure that your child has the correct school PE kit as Mrs Jackson will be monitoring

this.  PE kits should be left in school, in a separate bag which children can leave on their pegs during the week.
